The client; a middle-aged couple, engaged Templegate Consultants Limited to design a multi-purpose, family residence, with connected and inter-related activity spaces to include a fully-functional office and a 3-bedroom guest chalet on the ground floor; and a 5-bedroom private apartment on the first and loft floors.

The design was further complicated by some radical amendments of the design requirements during project construction. These changes were required to be carried out without any adjustment to the building’s structural frame; having adopted a frames structure approach to the building’s construction.

Key components of the design brief as follows:

Site layout was emphasized to provide privacy, with ample provision of vehicular parking.
The design should reflect modern/contemporary design features, adequate living spaces, etc.
The kitchen area was to be designed with an air pocket, in addition to the installation of cooker and wall extractors to prevent the smell of foods wafting through the house.
Deep headrooms, doors, and windows for ample natural light and ventilation.
Private terraces for the bedrooms in the first-floor dwelling units.
The design of a private swimming pool that is out of view of the neighbouring buildings.
